Emma Wood, Playwright

I’ve been fortunate to work with Megan twice in recent years. In 2020 she provided dramaturgical advice for a verbatim script I developed during the pandemic called A 2020 Vision. She offered timely insight and clarity for which I was extremely grateful when trying to to bring shape and reduce the length of the script for an online performance. Recently Megan directed my full-length play Mr Bennet’s Bride for Ballarat National Theatre. I was invited to the first full cast reading and was struck by the thorough and detailed vision she had all of aspects of production. She also established from the first moment a supportive and professional atmosphere where her cast and production team were made to feel welcome and valued. It was a delight but not a surprise when a couple of months later I saw the result of her work at the sold-out performances. She had fully realised her vision of in a non-traditional venue with some practical challenges and supported her actors to bring delightful, original and lively performances the audiences were fully engaged with. Megan is a highly skilled, warm and collegiate director and all round creative I would be delighted to work with again I have no hesitation in recommending her!
