Let’s Talk Peace Ballarat are hosting an online Peace Forum, during which I will be reading an original poem (or three) as a creative response to the UN Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons entering into force.
Join us to honour personal and universal peace on 22 January 2021 from 1pm until 2pm.
Held on the day the United Nations Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons enters into force, this Forum also recognises the 100th Anniversary of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (1920-2020 WILPF) and the Charter for Compassion’s Peace sector.
The form comprises:
A personal reflection from Indigenous Elder Al Harris, whose past family members were impacted by the Maralinga nuclear tests;
Statements from members of ICAN, WILPF & Compassionate Ballarat;
Guest speaker – Dr Tilman Ruff AO is Co-President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.
Reading of a poem specifically written for this day by Ballarat Writers’ member and performance poet Megan J Riedl.
