Pandemic Poem #19 / Sing Me Home

I haven’t felt that safe in the last few days. Feeling lost and sad. But this morning I put music on and realised that it’s one of the things that can make me feel safe no matter what.

This poem came from a prompts on Writing Challenges With Fleassy that asked you to write about a place that makes you safe.

Sing Me Home
The beat of a drum
Your body can sync with
The multi layered harmonies
Sound like noise
Until they begin to sink in
And you can pick out the piccolo
Trilling beyond the top of the stave
And the music becomes you
Then it’s you upon the stage
Feet tapping in time
Finding an obscure rhyme
Hey hey oh
Sing me home
