Pandemic Poem #14 / Song For March

It’s been a few days and I have a number of attempts at poems but nothing’s coming together except this one. An ode to the month just gone. So I’ll just let the words and feels and thoughts brew for a bit longer.

Song for March 2020
You put me in the oven to bake but opened the door too soon
You cast me as an action hero and let the walls close in
You asked me on a date and never came to pick me up
You forced me to the mirror and would not let me turn away

You gave me too much freedom last year
You told me lies and I listened
You gave me too much freedom last year
Oh March why did you break my heart
